The author

From a Birmingham barre to a courtyard in Jerez.

K. M. Pritchard was born in Birmingham, UK, and began dancing at the age of six. After performing on stage and television, she trained as a ballet teacher at the Royal Academy of Dance. Since 1992 she has been joyfully passing on her passion for dance to children and young adults, many of whom have gone on to shine on stages of their own.

In the early nineties she fell head over heels (but very gracefully) for flamenco, a love affair that eventually drew her to Andalucia. She now lives in Jerez de la Frontera.

When she is not writing or teaching, you will find her enjoying live music, hanging with her creative friends, or curled up at home with her cat, PJ Harvey.

Two dances, one life

The books grew from the places she has lived.

The ballet years

The first book is drawn from the world she knows best: the discipline of the barre, the ache of ambition, and a city she grew up dancing in. A Dance Through Time moves between 1990s Birmingham and the gaslit stages of 1843 London.

The flamenco fire

The love of flamenco that carried her to Andalucia becomes the beating heart of Book Two. The dance changes, the longing does not. A Dance Between Lives follows the story south.
