Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this website is the author, K. M. Pritchard, based in Spain. For any question about your data, or to exercise the rights described below, contact kmpritchard.author@gmail.com or use the contact page.

What is collected, and why

• Reader list. If you join the reader list, your email address (and first name, if you give it) is stored so occasional updates about K. M. Pritchard's books can be sent to you. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time (see below).
• Contact messages. If you use the contact form, your name, email address, and message are used only to reply to you. The lawful basis is legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry. Your details are not added to any marketing list unless you separately join the reader list.
• Technical data. Like any website, the hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and running. The lawful basis is legitimate interest.

Who processes your data on our behalf

A few trusted services help run this site. Each only processes your data to provide its service:

• GoHighLevel (United States): powers the reader-list and contact forms and stores the resulting contacts and messages.
• Substack (United States): hosts the Journal and its email subscriptions; if you subscribe there, their privacy policy also applies.
• Cloudflare (global): hosts and delivers the website.

International transfers

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. Where data leaves the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Cookies

The website's own pages do not use tracking or analytics cookies. The subscribe and contact forms are provided by GoHighLevel, which may set its own cookies so the forms work. A banner on your first visit lets you accept or decline, and your choice is remembered. You can clear this site's data in your browser at any time to be asked again.

How long your data is kept

Reader-list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for them to be deleted. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time. Every marketing email also includes a one-click unsubscribe link. To exercise any of these rights, email kmpritchard.author@gmail.com.

If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you have the right to complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD, aepd.es). Readers in the United Kingdom may instead contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO, ico.org.uk).
